The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is an autonomous advanced study institute established by the Reserve Bank of India, the country's central bank. The Institute, located in Mumbai, India, has the mandate to carry out research on a broad range of development issues, offer insights for policy formulation and to generate informed debate from a multi-disciplinary perspective on issues deemed critical. The IGIDR also offers Post Graduate / M.Phil. / Ph.D. programmes in economics and policy and is recognised as a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission of India. The Institute is funded by the Reserve Bank of India and undertakes projects for governments, the Reserve Bank as well as supranational institutions such as UNDP, UNCTAD, World Bank, etc.
